Bank Windhoek has been awarded second place in the Battle of the Banks Africa competition.
The award ceremony was hosted by ICAP Training Solutions South Africa last week.
Bank Windhoek managing director Baronice Hans says the achievement underscores the exceptional talent within Bank Windhoek.
“It highlights the value of investing in initiatives that build local expertise, while strengthening our competitive edge in the banking sector. This achievement reflects more than just recognition for Bank Windhoek; it represents our commitment to nurturing and empowering talent as part of our strategic pillars,” she says.
The Battle of the Banks Africa is a gamified training programme that simulates the challenges of running a commercial bank. Participants are divided into teams and tasked with managing a virtual bank, making critical decisions about operations, finance and strategy.
The goal is to optimise market share and stock prices while adhering to regulatory constraints.
Participants from various countries took part in the competition, including Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius and South Africa.
