Bellhaus set to exhibit ‘Healing Hands’

The Bellhaus Atelier and Galerie is gearing up to exhibit their latest offering, ‘Healing Hands.’

Healing Hands is a group exhibition exploring themes of love, grief and healing, featuring creatives Marelize van Staden and Kudzanai Katerere.

This was revealed in a statement issued by gallery assistant Willem Van Der Colf, who highlights that this new offering is set to delve into “the transformative power of artistic creation by means of stone sculpture and lino printmaking.”

Raised in rural Zimbabwe by his grandparents, Katerere is no stranger to the creative space, as this will mark his second return to the Bellhaus stage for a group exhibition.

“Katerere’s work is rooted in a longing for maternal love, his distinctive aesthetic emerged from a dream, capturing the soft, round face of a woman,” the statement reads.

“His sculptures, with their time consuming craftsmanship, embody the fundamental aspect of healing — patience,” it adds.

According to the statement, Van Staden, who is a lino print artist, is set to showcase pieces that reflect her personal healing journey after the loss of her husband.

“Van Staden’s prints often feature unconventional carvings that transform negative space into textured, dimensional expressions of scars and bruises that must be embraced to heal,” the statement reads.

Healing Hands opens at Bellhaus Atelier and Galerie on 6 June from 18h00, and runs until 29 June 2024.
