Benjamin summons Warriors

The home-based Brave Warriors should assemble for a training camp at the NFA Technical Centre on Thursday, says head coach Collin Benjamin.

Benjamin is eager to get to work with his charges following the conclusion of the Debmarine Namibia Premiership on Saturday.

The camp will prepare for Namibia’s final 2023 Africa Cup Nations qualifier away to Burundi on 12 June and the Cosafa Senior Challenge slated for Durban, South Africa, in July.

Namibia need only to avoid defeat to secure their continental showpiece spot in Ivory Coast early next year.

Benjamin appealed to the called up players to continue working hard to maintain fitness.

“We should not lose the impetus and momentum achieved during the premiership; hence, a mandatory fitness test will be conducted on 2 June to ascertain fitness levels,” Benjamin said in a statement yesterday.

Those expected to report for camp on Thursday are:

Goalkeepers: Ndisiro Kamaijanda (African Stars); Jonas Mateus (Orlando Pirates); Nelly Rooi (Tigers).

Defenders: Arend Aboubakir and Steven Damaseb (both Blue Waters); Given Mutuezu (Mighty Gunners); Denzil Haoseb (Black Africa); Gianluca Kahingunga (Okahandja United); Nalikewe Nalweendo (Citizens).

Midfielders: Reverend Matroos (Young Brazilians); Devin Somseb and Lawrence Doeseb (both Life Fighters); Ngero Katua (Unam); Dynamo Fredericks (African Stars); Nicodemus Haikali (Tura Magic); Paulus Amutenya (Unam); Uetuuro Kambato (African Stars).

Forwards: Absalom Iimbondi (Tigers); Joslin Kamatuka (African Stars); Junior Petrus (Blue Waters); Edmar Kamatuka (African Stars); Erwin Tjiuja and Eliakim Jadsson (Life Fighters).
