Bobbi Kristina Brown recovery would be a miracle, says source

BOBBY Brown is “inconsolable” as efforts continue to keep daughter Bobbi Kristina alive, People has learned exclusively.

“This is his worst nightmare,” a family source told People. “Losing Whitney [Houston] was hard, but this is a million times worse, and to lose her in the same way would devastate him.”

The family source said Brown and Houston’s only child has not regained consciousness since she was found in her bathtub Saturday inside her Roswell, Georgia home. The 21-year-old remains on a respirator, with very little brain activity, the source told People.

The family source added that doctors say that a recovery is technically possible, but if it happens, it’ll be a miracle.

Whitney Houston’s daughter was on life support on Sunday night after being found unconscious in a bath.

As it was claimed that Bobbi Kristina may already be brain-dead due to a drug overdose, a source close to the family said: “It doesn’t look good”. US reports said her family were by her bedside praying.

The 21-year-old was discovered at her home almost three years to the day that her mother died from drowning and the effects of cocaine abuse after also being found unresponsive in a bath. A dramatic 911 call recording reveals that at one point a rescue worker at Bobbi Kristina’s house said: “She is gurgling at this time.”

On Saturday police were called to the property in Roswell, Georgia, where officers said her husband Nick Gordon had found her face down in the bath. Bobbi Kristina was put on a ventilator to stop her brain from swelling but her condition appears to have deteriorated.

A US show business website reported that a worker at North Fulton Hospital, where Bobbi Kristina is being treated, confirmed she was brain-dead.

The worker, who declined to give their name, said: “She lost oxygen to her brain for too long – she’s not going to be able to recover.”

Entertainment Tonight reported that she had overdosed and it was ‘no coincidence’ it happened so close to her mother’s anniversary on 11 February.

It was reported that her father, rapper Bobby Brown (45), had dashed to her bedside from Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Last Monday, Bobbi Kristina, who had talked about starting a singing career and appeared in a reality TV show about her life, tweeted that she missed her mother. The ‘Bodyguard’ star died at the age of 48 after years of drug abuse.

Houston left her entire £12 million (about N$209 million) estate to her daughter, but it seems to have done little to mitigate her grief. Last July she uploaded a picture to Instagram of herself apparently lighting up a drug-smoking pipe and captioned it: “I feel strange that I can’t feel any pain any more.”

In 2013, she married Gordon, who her mother had adopted when they were both children.

Roswell policewoman Lisa Holland said that it was unclear whether Bobbi Kristina had attempted suicide or not.
