Body discovered on Oshikoto farm

Farmworkers discovered the body of Ronaldo Gumuchab (24) with multiple bruises and wounds in the bushes at farm Tsumore in the Oshikoto region on Friday, national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says.

“It is alleged that the deceased left his residence at Kuvukiland around 07:00 to his relatives,” she says.

According to the police’s report, Gumuchab was assaulted with an unknown object.

His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.

A man (24) was arrested at Henties Bay after allegedly stabbing Elvin Swartz (20) to death during a gang fight on Saturday.

“It is alleged that a gang fight broke out, which was stopped, and it is further alleged that the suspect and his friends left, but the deceased and his friends followed them and caught up with them,” Shikwambi says.

Swartz allegedly hit the suspect with an empty bottle, upon which the suspect started stabbing him with a broken bottle in his neck, which cut a major blood vessel.

Swartz was transported to a local clinic and declared dead on arrival.

His next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.

On the same day, a man (23) was stabbed twice in the back with a knife at Oniipa.

“It is alleged that the victim first stabbed the suspect with the knife accidentally in the hand when he tried to intervene in an alleged commotion that erupted, when the victim had snatched a cellphone from a certain lady,” Shikwambi says.

The victim was taken to Onandjokwe State Hospital, where he is currently in a critical condition.

Police investigations continue.

A man (43), who is believed to have been assaulted, was found at his house in a critical condition at Ongwediva on Saturday.

He was taken to Oshakati State Hospital.
