The body of a man was discovered with a crushed head at Keetmanshoop on Saturday.
||Kharas regional crime investigations coordinator Nicodemus Mbango said it is alleged the deceased was run over by a truck with an unknown registration number.
Mbango said the incident took place between 23h00 and 00h00 at a three-way crossing between Transnamib residential area and NHE residential area in Tseiblaagte. The deceased was identified as Josef Ishinda (28) and his next of kin have been informed.
“The body of the deceased was discovered by community members, lying in the street. There were urine marks which raised the suspicion he could have been standing and urinating when the truck ran over him,” Mbwanga said.
The deputy commissioner said after further investigation the truck was traced and the driver interviewed, who confirmed to have driven in the said area during that specific time, but he did not notice running over someone, or something strange.
“Inspection was done on the truck and blood stains were found with some fibers collected for analysis. The driver has not been arrested, pending investigation and lab results. There are no eye witnesses so far, which makes it a bit difficult to affect arrest,” said the crime investigations coordinator.
The police have opened a case of culpable homicide.
