Namibia’s women’s side, the Brave Gladiators, defeated Eswatini 3-0 in their away match during the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday.

Speaking after the match, head coach Woody Jacobs expressed his delight with the win.

“The fact that they won 3-0, [a] very accomplished and composed performance in my opinion. I really think the girls did very well and all credit must go to them for the win.”

Jacobs said women’s football is in a good space, and warranted more backing. “I think we need to support them more because what they are getting now is not good enough.”

The Brave Gladiators will play their return leg on 26 February at South Africa’s Dobsonville Stadium, where they will face Eswatini again.
