NAMWATER has requested residents of the Oshana, Oshikoto and Omusati regions to use water sparingly in the next few days.
The water supply is expected to improve by the end of today. Last week residents were roped into cleaning the canal, which brings water from the Calueque Dam, before the supply was turned on again on Sunday evening. But technical problems which developed after the canal clean-up operation led to only a 20 per cent water supply.NamWater Chief Executive Officer Vaino Shivute said yesterday that it would be another week before the water supply situation returned to normal.Hospitals and other emergency services are requested to call NamWater’s Area Manager for Oshakati, Landuleni Kasita, if they experience problems with their supply on 081 248 7153.Last week residents were roped into cleaning the canal, which brings water from the Calueque Dam, before the supply was turned on again on Sunday evening. But technical problems which developed after the canal clean-up operation led to only a 20 per cent water supply.NamWater Chief Executive Officer Vaino Shivute said yesterday that it would be another week before the water supply situation returned to normal.Hospitals and other emergency services are requested to call NamWater’s Area Manager for Oshakati, Landuleni Kasita, if they experience problems with their supply on 081 248 7153.
