Cassidy Karon launches ’80s Mercedes’

CASSIDY Karon of award-winning hip-hop duo Paradox officially launched his debut solo album, ’80s Mercedes’, last Friday at The Confab in Windhoek.

The 26-year-old was delighted with the support shown by celebrities such as Ricardo Mannetti, Luis Munana and Leah Misika.

“I am pleased about the turn out, because the planning was so last minute. I only expected about 12 people there, but there were over 60,” he said.

“There was a great mixture of backgrounds. A lot of artists came to show support and find inspiration. I also had some of my old friends show up. It was a dream come true to see so many people support my career. The launch was a huge success and I am proud,” Karon told The Namibian.

Before he released the album, he had insecurities and was anxious about how people would receive it, the rapper said.

“This is an eclectic project. I am pleased that people have really been embracing the change, which motives me to keep innovating. I am now much more confident in my capabilities as an artist. I am ready for my solo career.”

Karon refers to ’80s Mercedes’ as “a breath of fresh air”. On the album, he stepped out of his comfort zone and was involved in processes such as making beats, mixing and mastering.

He also plans to launch a music video for a song titled ‘Awe’ later this week. This coming Saturday, he will be performing at Garden Inn when the award-winning Sally Boss Madam launches her album.
