Celebrity Top 10 with… Freeda

Singer and songwriter Freeda Haindaka was first introduced to us as half of the top girl group, Gal Level, which quickly became a household name with award winning hits and radio favourites such as ‘Shake It’.

She has since gone solo after the duo announced a five year break from music. Although some were sceptical, her career kicked off on an impressive note with hits like ‘This Whole Love Thing’. With every performance Freeda dominated the stage with her energetic performances while still maintaining her wonderful vocals, delivering the full package she describes herself as.

The songstress says that she fell in love with music and performing at a very young age, where music was all around her, listening to Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

“I grew up in a family were we used to sing a lot. If not in church then at home with my siblings – competing – I always used to win,” a giggling Freeda said.

She uses music as a means to render her thoughts and feelings audible, especially because she is a quiet person who does not talk much.

Freeda says if she had to choose between singing opera and singing in a choir, she would choose opera.

“I just don’t think I have a voice for choir as much as I love it, very funny I know,” the songbird laughed.
