Chaku Decastro back with second album

AFTER working on his newest album ‘First Class’ for over two years, Fidel Mulamba, popularly known as Chaku Decastro, a member of the 4×4 band and solo artist has finally released it.

He has been doing music for 18 years now. Over the years, he has been doing kwasa kwasa music with 4×4 Too Much Power and as a solo artist Amapiano and Afrobeats. The messages in his music are impactful and he never uses vulgar language.

His released his first solo album ‘Who Are You’ was in 2017.

Mulamba is also the founder of the Whitehorse Music Production that has 15 artists, dancers and models signed under its label.

The album contains eight songs and features artists such as Sunnyboy, Don Kamati, 4×4 Too Much Power, Kaycee and Mervie.

The artist said through the album, he aims to encourage people to behave well.

“People must behave like first-class citizens despite their circumstances, especially during the pandemic. The idea of the album came from a conversation I had with my manager. We were seated on a normal day and we were talking about how life can change in a blink of an eye and how unpredictable it is. And also that it is very important for all of us to appreciate the little things. As we were talking about this, we thought why not put this into an album and send the message across to other people,” Mulamba said.

While the artist’s first album focused more on fierce and strong messages, the new one focuses on the importance of love and appreciating those around us. Mulamba said the messages on the new album mainly advocate against gender-based violence, love shenanigans, spreading love and dancing no matter how difficult life gets.

He said working on the album taught him patience. “I actually learned that I’m more patient than I thought. We had to reschedule many studio sessions depending on artists. Normally, I hated rescheduling and waiting but this time around it was different. Getting artists to come to the studio was also a bit hectic for me, as everybody was trying to avoid gatherings,” the 40-year-old artist said.

Mulamba recently released the music video for ‘Love Shenanigans’, a song on the album. The song features Hikwa music hit-maker Sunnyboy. The video was shot at Club Thriller and tells the story about complications of love and how rare it is to find genuine love these days.

The artist describes himself as a jack of all trades.

“I always have to have plan C, in case A and B don’t work out. As an artist, I have learned that sadly things won’t always work out in your favour all the time. Over the years, I have also learned not to trust anybody because people are unpredictable. From a personal experience, I would like to advise artists not to travel abroad without receiving their payments. I recently had a horrible experience. I travelled to a specific country and they only gave me half the deposit and didn’t deliver the rest as promised. So, I found myself stranded on foreign land,” he said.

The artist is working on his third album ‘Wrong Partner’, which he plans to release in 2023.
