Changes Needed In Our Sports

Changes Needed In Our Sports

Let me also air my voice in support of those critical about all sports codes in the country.

Whilst in agreement with Minister Mutorwa, the Chairperson of the Namibia Sport Commission Mr Tweya, Carlos Kambaekwa, Quinton Steele-Botes, Corry Ihuhua on the slow progress or the non existance of some sport codes in some areas of the country, and many other discrepancies in our sport. The lack of commitment, inefficiency, sport-blindness, arrogance, selfishness, parasitism, tribalism, nepotism, corruptions.Well credit must also be given where it is due, namely cricket, rugby, cycling, we hear less of them, they are among the 99% free problematic sport codes.Acknowledging the massive support our government devotes to sport in the country and some sport loving institutions, virtually all sports codes in the country have reached their peak of advancement, being competitive and whining, and every time blaming African sorcery on our sport performances, which I don’t buy at all.Let me call a spade a spade. If those in charge have no commitment, then maybe S & T and other related allowances which exceed their monthly incomes should be rethought. Many sport codes have failed to have meetings, surely once in a year or no meetings at all, congressess are being postponed, information withheld, some are being censored, some are being threatened with forever being banned from sports codes just because they exposed the truth on the mismanagement of the sport resources and the related matters, which leaders felt to be coercion. Some of the leaders have become unquestionable and rule the codes with an iron fist with absolute power. Some do not want changes nor do they want to rotate or to groom the young ones. They just want to be seen around the capital at exotic press conferences , undertaking international trips now and then, every time, year the same faces, now changes should come .The Namibian Sports Commisssion should make these sports codes answerable to their performances and actions.Finances are in shambles and beyond repair, if an investigation was to be launched, many officers would commit suicide before being subpoenaed for the hearings. The following sports codes should be investigated and they are: Soccer which is technically paralysed.Boxing and schools athletics which is currently dormant.KK Katondo Oniiwe, Onayena Shikoto regionThe lack of commitment, inefficiency, sport-blindness, arrogance, selfishness, parasitism, tribalism, nepotism, corruptions.Well credit must also be given where it is due, namely cricket, rugby, cycling, we hear less of them, they are among the 99% free problematic sport codes.Acknowledging the massive support our government devotes to sport in the country and some sport loving institutions, virtually all sports codes in the country have reached their peak of advancement, being competitive and whining, and every time blaming African sorcery on our sport performances, which I don’t buy at all.Let me call a spade a spade. The following sports codes should be investigated and they are: Soccer which is technically paralysed.Boxing and schools athletics which is currently dormant.KK Katondo Oniiwe, Onayena Shikoto region
