Chile Futsal Club and Quality FC continue to set the pace at the top of the Namibia Diamond Trading Company Futsal Premier League after contrasting victories over the weekend.
On Friday, Chile thrashed Flying V 14-0, while Quality beat the X Men on a walkover.
Chile and Quality are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the league and have stretched their lead over the chasing pack to five points.
On Friday evening, Chile were a class apart in a one-sided victory against Flying V. Immanuel Angula opened their account in the fourth minute and from there on it was one-way traffic as Chile went into overdrive.
By halftime they were already leading 6-0 and continued their dominance after the break with eight more goals to complete a crushing victory and send out a clear warning that they are the team to beat.
Rolando Swartz led the way with four goals, while Angula and Kimon Solomon scored three each, Bornface Siyanga three and Wesley Otto one.
That win put them at the top of the log on 24 points, with a huge goal aggregate of +53, or an average victory of 8-1 in each of their eight matches to date.
On Saturday, Quality joined them on 24 points after a walkover victory over the X Men. The futsal league organisers could not give more information, just saying that the X Men were penalised due to ‘failure to adhere to futsal league compliance.’
The Ballers, meanwhile, lost ground on the leaders after suffering a 5-3 defeat to Windhoek Futsal Club (WHC) on Friday.
WFC took a hold of the match with three goals in quick succession midway through the first half and although Ballers made a strong second half comeback they couldnt close the deficit.
WFC’s goal scorers were Denzel Mulunga (two), Mzwandile Mento, August Emmanuel and Daniel Dausab, while Ichshaan von Francois scored two and Inrico Swartz one goal for Ballers.
The result sees WFC joining Ballers on 18 points, but they have been overtaken by Selecao, who moved up to third place on the log on 19 points after a comprehensive 8-0 victory against 7 Kings FC on Saturday.
Vilho Lawrence led the way for the coastal side with four goals, while Reginald Willemse scored two, and Elroy Drotsky and Cee-Jay van Wyk one goal each.
