The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture yesterday received donations of education facilities for two schools in the Kavango West region.
The donation came from China, through the Agency for International Economic Cooperation, to Satotwa Combined School in the Mankumpi constituency and Simanya Combined School in the Mpungu constituency.
During the handover, education minister Anna Nghipondoka said the donation will transform Namibia’s educational landscape.
She further said it will ensure a low pupil- to-teacher ratio, reduce travel distances and tackle the need for hostels.
Additionally, she said critical issues of accessibility and retention are addressed by providing these essential resources, which will also reduce dropouts rates.
“The conducive environment created here is your ladder to academic success. Embrace your studies, challenge yourselves and aim for greater heights.”
She urged pupils to refrain from vandalism and ensure the facilities are well maintained for the next generation.
She also highlighted that it is everyone’s responsibility to create an environment that fosters growth, learning and creativity.
Mankumpi councillor Lukas Muha highlighted China and Namibia’s diplomatic relations during the handover ceremony,.
