Chinese foreign affairs minister Wang Yi to visit Namibia

China’s foreign affairs minister, Wang Yi, is expected to arrive in Namibia on a state visit on Saturday.

The executive director in the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Penda Naanda, in a media statement said Wang will hold official talks with president Nangolo Mbumba and president-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah during his visit.

Wang is scheduled to meet Nandi-Ndaitwah at the Old State House office of the vice president in Windhoek on Monday, before travelling to Swakopmund to hold official talks with Mbumba, Naanda said.

He added that Namibia and China have not only been working together at bilateral and multilateral level, but also cooperate and support each other on international issues of common concern.

“Namibia and China enjoy all-weather bilateral relations characterised by close friendship and solidarity. The visit will provide the two countries with an opportunity to take stock of progress made in a wide range of areas of cooperation, particularly within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation,” Naanda said.

Wang’s visit will conclude on Tuesday.
