Chris Chameleon and ‘Drie Vriende’ to rock Namibia

Innovative, prolific and endlessly creative, Chris Chameleon has become known in South Africa and abroad as a musical phenomenon.

With a style all of his own, irresistible stage personality and a reputation for mesmerising audiences with his four-octave voice and vocal acrobatics. His exceptional talent has won him rave reviews and numerous awards over the past six years.

Chris’ awards include two South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and a Medal of Honour from the South African Academy of Science and Arts. Starting out in 1997, he became the bassist and front man of Boo!, an eclectic musical threesome which has since acquired a worldwide cult following. In its first seven years of existence, Boo! performed over 800 shows in 17 countries, including Hungary, Croatia and 14 states in the USA.

Added to this Chris’ prominent efforts with regards to conservation were recognised in June 2012 when he received the Green Heart Award. Lastly, South African magazines Heat and GQ have included Chris in their top listings, reaching the sixth position on the GQ Best-dressed Male Celebrity Top 10 list in 2007.

With ‘Drie Vriende’ (‘Three Friends’), audiences get an extraordinary view of the many talents of South Africa’s most loved Chameleon. Besides his own, unique presentation of music and fascinating stories, he is joined by the young and piping hot poet Daniella Deysel to present work from his new 2014 album ‘Posduif’ (Carrier Pigeon), which is a collection of songs of Deysel’s captivating poetry.

The third leg of ‘Drie Vriende’ is the party starting, doef-doef scalliwag, Sarel Fourie, who makes an appearance to entertain audiences in a production glittered with humour, seriousness, soul music and fun-loving entertainment.

Namibian fans have a chance to catch Chris at the Warehouse Theatre on Monday, 2 March and Saturday, 7 March at 19h00 for 20h00. Tickets are N$190 on www.staytoday.com.na/events and N$220 at the door.
