City Must Assist Commuters

City Must Assist Commuters

ALLOW me to air my views about the long-distance taxi rank situated opposite the Katutura Hospital bridge next to the Independence Avenue freeway.

This long-distance taxi rank offers services for commuters who travel from Windhoek to various destinations in Namibia such as Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Otjiwarongo, Omaruru, Tsumeb, Grootfontein, Okakarara etc. I’m so disappointed that the city of Windhoek has not yet done something for this long-distance taxi rank. Why? Because it still remains in the same state it was in when it started operating some years ago.I am one of the commuters who use this long-distance taxi rank and I’m not happy about what we are experiencing there. To mention a few, there are no toilets (very important), no water and the vendors who are selling goods there are doing it in the hot sun. When it rains the situation goes from bad to worse. The City of Windhoek has done something for the Rhino Park long-distance taxi rank, and a little improvement for the Hereford long-distance taxi rank in Katutura and nothing for the rank in question. The City officials can come and view this place to compare it to the other long-distance ranks.I hope in the near future this departure point will be remembered by the City of Windhoek and something will be done, but at the moment it is a forgotten place.Japhet Mununga WindhoekI’m so disappointed that the city of Windhoek has not yet done something for this long-distance taxi rank. Why?
