Swapo supporters gathered at the J Stephanus Stadium at Keetmanshoop on Saturday for the party’s virtual manifesto launch.
The main event was officiated by party vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.
The launch drew close to 2 500 supporters, with the majority of attendees being young people, followed closely by the elderly.
Community member Aaron Hikuam, who was observing from outside the stadium, said Swapo is on a revival trajectory.
“I think Swapo will win //Kharas and Hardap during this election. Look at the people. When was the last time you saw a Swapo meeting drawing such a crowd to watch something on a screen?” said Hikuam.
Swapo’s //Kharas coordinator Matthew Mumbala said the party is determined to win the Presidential and National Assembly elections and to obtain a two-thirds majority.
“Look at //Kharas Regional Council. Councillors are being suspended, people are in the High Court, they cannot hold ordinary council meetings and are blaming each other for stagnation. It was not like that when Swapo was in the majority. We held meetings, implemented projects and improved peoples’ living conditions,” he added.
