Windhoek-based company Advance Training and Consultancy (Atac) will conduct a two-day training programme for informal traders and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to a statement issued by company spokesperson Sandra Muramba, the training programme will be held on 2 and 3 June for informal traders, predominantly vendors, start-ups, and MSMEs from the Moses //Garoëb, Samora Machel, Tobias Hainyeko, John Pandeni and Katutura East constituencies.

“Atac is committed to promoting financial literacy among informal traders, vendors, start-ups, and MSMEs.

We recognise that these businesses form the backbone of our local economy, and we believe improving their financial knowledge and skills will help to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and build stronger communities,” Muramba says.

The programme will cover topics such as financial management, bookkeeping, budgeting, banking, business loan and overdraft applications, tax compliance, marketing, operations, and business management skills, she says.

Muramba says the company plans to train a total of 500 people at different venues, and has already received more than 200 applications.

“This is a pilot project that will be implemented in all 14 regions of Namibia, starting with the Khomas region,” she says.

According to Muramba, this is intended to increase vendors’ financial literacy and financial management skills, and enable them to make solid and sound financial decisions.
