PLEASE allow me tiny space in your newspaper to congratulate one of Namibia’s outstanding singing ambassadors, the Ondunga Cultural Group led, by one of our own solo stars: Steven (the one of ‘Nights Without You’ fame).
I saw the group on numerous occasions when they entertained dignitaries and guests at social and special gatherings with their traditional repertoire but yesterday (June 14) when they were again at it during the launch of the ‘Triumph of Courage’ (a book on our heroes written by Mathew Gowaseb) at the Iitumba Bush Lodge, I could see that this group is worth the praise and appreciation for maintaining cultural heritage while simultaneously entertaining us with songs and dances we can only call our own pride. Sons and daughters, please keep up this good work. You are a perfect reminder that we can also excel in our own identity. The repertoire selected for the event was that of praise songs of our fallen heroes and also that of the living legends and believe me it worked perfectly well with the setting of the event launched.I’m sure given our support this group of young people can only be better leaders and our recorded pride for the next generation to come.I’m proud to be a Namibian just because of what I’ve seen the achievements that Namibians can make.Let’s keep and promote our cultures – they make us who we are!
