Constantia Private School Goes Online

Constantia Private School is going online! The school, which is situated in Pionerspark, Windhoek, is registered with the education ministry and celebrated their 31st anniversary last year.

According to Amanda Moresche, the headmaster of the school, they are launching the first fully online primary school programme in Namibia, and to the best of their knowledge, in Africa, in 2020.

“We have, through years of hard work, digitised the whole school curriculum, which is compliant with the Namibian system but also meets international standards. Pupils currently attending the school from Grade 0 to Grade 8 have been working on this system for the last seven years and have therefore tried and tested it.”

Regular school will continue in 2020 but the online programme will be available anywhere pupils have internet connection. The programme runs on any android system, mobile phone or computer/laptop and there is no need to download special programmes.

“Our aim is to make quality education available to anyone at any given time. Pupils can also progress at their own pace and it is therefore possible to complete more than one grade per year,” Moresche said.

Pupils and parents have access to the system via the school’s online portal and unique login 24/7. Each lesson is in video and audio format and is followed by a quiz. The quiz must be passed with 50% before a pupil can move to the next lesson. This ensures that the pupil has grasped the work and marks are available immediately.

There are no exams and text books as everything is covered in the lessons, which may be downloaded on your device for further study.

“We hope that we can serve any pupil, irrespective of their circumstances, with this initiative,” Moresche said.
