Contractor appointed to repair the Windhoek-Rehoboth collapsed bridge

ROAD Authority chief executive Conrad Lutombi says the authority has appointed a contractor to construct a temporary road between Windhoek and Rehoboth.

This comes after a section of the road closed due to a bridge that sustained damage from the recent heavy rains.

A contractor has been appointed to commence construction of the bypass immediately to facilitate flow and minimise disruptions.

“We will share further updates on the bypass and road repairs progress,” Lutombi says.

He says a section of the old B1 road between Windhoek and Okahandja (Osona Village to the interchange) will be closed on Thursday before 17h00 to ensure the safety of all road users.

All motorist and residents are requested to use the freeway.
