THE plot is thickening around an incident this past weekend that left the face of kwaito star The Dogg scarred and stitched.
The man who claims responsibility for the attack at a Windhoek nightclub, Naphtali Hatuikulipi, yesterday alleged he was in fact acting in self-defence and after constant provocation from The Dogg.
In addition, management at the club where the incident took place yesterday announced that they were pursuing legal action against the kwaito star for making unsubstantiated allegations about the use of illegal drugs on their premises.’I punched him after he slapped me while holding my glass in my hand that I was drinking from – it was an involuntary reaction after avoiding him and ignoring him three times all night,’ Hatuikulipi claimed to The Namibian yesterday.Hatuikulipi claimed he hit The Dogg, real name Martin Morocky, with his wine glass, and not a beer bottle as stated in yesterday’s report on the incident. Morocky said earlier that he had gone to the restrooms at Club Obsessionz, where he claimed he found his attacker and some others indulging in drugs. He claimed that he approached the group to question them about their alleged activities, when he was hit in the face with a bottle.’Have you seen how those toilets are built? Who could think to do drugs there?’ Hatuikulipi responded to these allegations yesterday.According to his version of events, he had gone to the club with members of Morocky’s Mshasho Productions team, and allegedly found himself on the receiving end of insults and provocations from the artist whenever the two passed one another. He claimed Morocky has a grudge against him for appearing in music videos for rival artists. After going to the toilet, he said Morocky and some others also entered.Morocky allegedly insulted him again before allegedly hitting him in the chest three times and finally slapping him in the face.’That slap stung,’ Hatuikulipi said, claiming that he hit the artist with a full whiskey glass before fleeing from the club to avoid retaliation. Both men have now laid charges of assault against one another, and are waiting for the conclusion of the Police investigations. The management of Club Obsessionz said yesterday that they were taking legal action against Morocky over his allegations of illegal drug use on their premises.’The agreed facts on the night and our subsequent investigation indicate that the two involved parties had a confrontation where Mr Dogg referred to the other gentleman’s sexual orientation and continued to provoke the aggrieved individual into the night. The group that was with them confirmed this issue. We also have been made aware that this sour relation has been going in the past involving some personal issues involving two women between the two parties,’ the statement reads.’We want to assure you that Club Obsessionz does not condone or promote the use of drugs. We are very much affected by these allegations. Obsessionz does not condone violence and is very unpleased that the aggrieved party resorted to violence. We have instructed our legal team to pursue the matter,’ it said.
