Langa’Snyama butchery has expanded its brand and introduced homemade sauce.
Other sauces previously launched are lemon and herb, chilli and sweet chilli. The sauce business started as a side hustle in 2017.
Langa Shivute, the founder, says the dip was introduced after clients suggested something creamy. The creamy dip sauce can be used as a dip, spread or a salad dressing. It is also a great complement to many different types of foods, from fresh vegetables to grilled meats and seafood.
“It’s very interesting that both our last flavours are recommendations and suggestions from our customers. Our creamy dip sauce is a versatile sauce that can be used in a variety of ways, such as a dipping sauce for vegetables, chips, crackers or as a spread for sandwiches and wraps,” he says.
Shivute says the birth of the sauces come after a struggle to bring ingredients together.
According to Shivute, all the ingredients are from local farmers and supermarkets. The process involves cooking a measure of raw ingredients and blending them.
This sauces are made at Swakopmund.
Shivute says establishing a sauce business has allowed him to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams and it has given him the opportunity to build something and make a positive impact on people’s lives by providing them with products they can enjoy.
“In 2014, I started selling kapana at Pongos bar, Tsumeb. However, I wanted to have something unique and special to attract customers. I started using sauces (from Metro) instead of spices, just to bring some sort of uniqueness to the business. The strategy worked. People loved it and that’s when I got the idea of creating my own sauces,” he says.
Shivute is 35 years old and comes from Oshikuyu Iiputu. He is a husband and a father of three. He is an artisan by profession.
He was inspired by his mother, a kapana seller for the past 26 years. He says having the business has given him a sense of purpose and allowed him to provide for himself and his family by doing something he is passionate about.
“My mother is known for her unique food. I can say with confidence that I grew up with kapana as a means for survival. My flavours came from home. My wife and kids played a huge role in the success and growth of the business,” he says.
Shivute says the sauces stand out and can be used in a variety of dishes, making them incredibly versatile and adaptable.
