D-Naff Explains Lady May ‘Snub’

Multiple award-winning artist Naftalie Amukwelele, commonly known as D-Naff, kept Lady May Africa under his wing for over two years, but says she is finally ready to continue her music career as a gospel artist on her own.

D-Naff Entertainment therefore decided not to renew her contract.

Lady May Africa has been signed to the music label since 2018.

“Her contract cannot be renewed. I believe we have done what we needed to do in her life as a gospel artist, and that she is ready to carry herself without our supervision,” the rapper says.

D-Naff says while the ‘Unbroken’ singer was signed with the music label, their critical role was to mentor her.

“Our aim was to show her the way, and guide her into the light. She needed to know what to do and say as a gospel artist. For the past two years she was able to successfully master that. Lady May Africa is very smart and knows what she wants when it comes to the industry. She will not fail. That I know for sure,” D-Naff says.

He says he is pleased that the industry has a talented artist like Lady May Africa.

“She is a big blessing to Namibia. We were overjoyed to have her with us, and we have seen so many great things in her that many people don’t know about. Everywhere we sang with her, we left emotions and tears. The church is blessed to have her, and we will continue to pray for her,” the veteran gospel star says.

Lady May Africa says she has a new manager and has plenty of new music she will soon share with her fans.

“There is a lot I am working on now, but I don’t want to talk about it just yet. I will definitely reveal more information at a later stage,” she says.

Under D-Naff Entertainment Lady May Africa recorded and released her debut gospel album, titled ‘Unbroken’.

In the past two years she has been recording and shooting music videos with Nam Gospel United.

She has also been performing at churches.
