Day Visitor Fees face legal challenge

Day Visitor Fees face legal challenge

We submit that the NWR is abusing its monopoly position over the national parks to force visitors to the cash register.

This is unjust, unfair and we condemn in the strongest terms. The [Day Visitor Fee] decision by the NWR is a mistake and no attempt at window-dressing will make it more acceptable. The NWR’s Public Relations Officer claims that “shoddy journalism could harm tourism”.We put it to him that it is not the media, but rather an unjustifiable tariff, that is harming tourism.Nature Investments (Pty) Ltd is testing the legality of the NWR’s Day Visitor Fee.It is in our, our guests’, the tourism industry’s and every traveller’s interest to challenge this action.PS: The journalist who wrote the article that Mr. Mietzner is referring to took the effort to familiarise himself with the matter by travelling to the Fish River Canyon.Manfred Goldbeck – Managing Director Nature Investments (Pty) Ltd Tel: +264 61 230066 – E-mail: mgoldbek@iway.naThe [Day Visitor Fee] decision by the NWR is a mistake and no attempt at window-dressing will make it more acceptable.
