FUGITIVE lawyer Marén de Klerk was granted bail of N$50 000 by the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.
Anti-Corruption Commission director general Paulus Noa confirmed to The Namibian that De Klerk is out on bail, following his arrest in South Africa last week.
Bail conditions require De Klerk to report to the police and surrender his passport, while his movements are restricted before 07h00 and after 20h00 daily.
Noa said De Klerk’s extradition proceedings will commence on 25 September.
De Klerk is wanted in Namibia to face charges of corruption, fraud, theft, and money laundering related to the Fishrot corruption scandal.
