A man (25) narrowly escaped an attempted robbery in Windhoek West on Sunday, which later resulted in the death of an alleged suspect.
Namibian Police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi confirmed the incident, which occurred at around 02h00 in Jenner Street.
According to the police, the victim was offloading luggage when he was approached by five unidentified men in a white hatchback.
The suspects allegedly assaulted him with an unknown object and attempted to rob his partner.
Shikwambi says the victim, a licensed firearm holder, acted in self-defence by firing shots at the attackers, causing them to flee the scene.
“This case is linked to the one involving a male deceased ‘known armed robber’ [discovered] in an abandoned white hatchback on the Western Bypass on Sunday at around 02h20.
“No arrests have been made so far, and the police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation,” says Shikwambi.
