DJ Siya kick-starts the year with a new single

NEW, NEW … DJ Siya has released a fresh track titled ‘Bina, Bina’.

With a brand-new song called ‘Bina, Bina’, which translates to “dancing”, DJ Siya – a producer, DJ and performer from Katima Mulilo – has offered his followers and music enthusiasts something fresh for the new year.

As one of the Namibian musicians who has succeeded in breaking into the international market, DJ Siya has collaborated with numerous heavyweights in the industry, amassing fans from Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia.

The new song features Drimz Mr Muziq from Zambia and is produced by Mr Glo.

The song will soon be played on a number of radio stations in addition to being released on all music channels, including social media.

The new song honours the vibrant Zambezi entertainment industry and showcases the artist’s extraordinary musical abilities.

The soukus song is intended to help people start the new year with an open mind, says DJ Siya. It encourages people to make time for dancing since it recognises that people experience the greatest amount of strain in life, as well as depression, anxiety, tension and a host of other issues.

Whatever one is going through, it’s necessary to occasionally let go, he says.

“So, ‘Bina’ is a dancing song for you.”

‘Bina’ is the second single for the upcoming album, according to DJ Siya and it serves as a preview of his next album.

“The song will appear on my upcoming CD. We are already hard at work on it and this year I will finally release my album after three years of hiccups,” he says, adding that they have recorded a good number of songs.

“It’s official that the album will be released under my new slogan, ‘Mwine We Territory’. All I can say about the album is that it will be an interesting project but I don’t want to give too much away.

“We hope for the same because we had an extremely exciting schedule the previous year and this is evident in the record we are releasing. Everything we do in life is up to God,” DJ Siya says.

On the video for the new song, he says it’s simply a matter of gathering the necessary material, with the music video for the new single in the works and essential.

He adds that they are currently busy with the music video for the first single of the album ‘Bovo’, which was released last year.

On ‘Bovo’, a kwasa-kwasa groove mixed with an African beat, DJ Siya features DJ Vuyo and the gifted Chester from Zambia.

The party song connotes fun and happiness.

DJ Siya says the two new singles from the next album will demonstrate some maturation in his style of music.

“A few years ago, my music had a slight twist. Back then, I used to pay more attention to traditional house but house kwasa captured my heart.”

DJ Siya adds that he grew up listening to kwasa kwasa, so that’s why there’s a fusion of kwasa and house on the new songs.

He invites music fans to check them out.

“You may occasionally ask me, ‘Why are you doing or composing such music?’ because I always want to do things in a different way. How about you try some Afro-pop? We can’t all act in the same way though.”

“There are people who are good at it, but I have the upper hand in the other genre.”

DJ Siya says people are expecting more from him in terms of music and national performances.
