Hailing from the vibrant town of Katima Mulilo, DJ Vuyo is set to captivate Windhoek audiences tomorrow with his highly anticipated one-man show. The event, which aims to bring his unique sound to the city, will take place at the Brewers Market, and promises an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts.
In an exclusive Q&A session with unWrap.online recently, DJ Vuyo shared his excitement and shed light on his recent endeavours.
In terms of the inspiration behind the one-man show, DJ Vuyo said previous shows were mostly held at Katima Mulilo.
“People complained and asked why I don’t have a show in the city because I have fans down here as well, so that’s why I decided to do this show,” he said.
Eager to connect with his Windhoek fan base, DJ Vuyo said he hopes to make the event an annual occurrence, much like his popular summer festival at Katima Mulilo every October.
“I have been busy producing and recording music for artists, as well as working on my own projects,” he said of his commitment to both collaborations and solo ventures, as he strives to continue to make significant contributions to the Namibian music scene.
When asked about his opinion on the state of the local music industry, DJ Vuyo expressed optimism and highlighted the progress made thus far.
“I think it has gotten better. It’s good that we are getting bookings now within the country because they’re starting to see the work we put in and all that,” he said.
However, he emphasised the need for greater unity within the industry.
“There is still much we need to do. We have to work towards working together more for the music to grow even bigger.”
However, DJ Vuyo acknowledged the positive efforts of some artists who are pushing the local sound and encouraged everyone to support Namibian music.
He also emphasised the immense effort that goes into creating music.
“We should all support local music because it’s much work we put in the studio for months,” he said.
With his unwavering dedication to his craft and the support of his fans, DJ Vuyo is poised to continue making waves in the Namibian music industry.
