The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) has joined forces with a Dutch consulting services company that will sponsor youth projects at Lüderitz.

This was announced in a recent statement by NYEF chairperson Fanuel Shinedima, who says the collaboration with Dutch Project Quality Consulting Services (DPQ) will empower and upskill young people at Lüderitz to participate in Namibia’s energy landscape, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

DPQ representative Ciska Bakx, who handed over the sponsorship, highlights the company’s belief in the NYEF’s vision and its commitment to supporting Namibia’s youth.

“We are proud to support the NYEF and invest in the potential of young Namibians,” she says, without specifying the value of the sponsorship.

DPQ is known for its expertise in maritime and technical services, says Shinedima.

“By equipping the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge, we are not only enhancing their futures but also contributing to the sustainable development of Namibia’s energy sector,” Bakx adds.

According to Shinedima, the sponsorship will enhance the NYEF’s initiatives to provide essential resources for aspiring professionals at Lüderitz.

He says the partnership with DPQ will facilitate a range of educational programmes, mentorship opportunities and networking events, offering young people pathways for hands-on experience and career growth.

“This sponsorship is a major boost for NYEF and a significant investment in the future of Namibian youth. With DPQ’s backing, we can offer more resources and opportunities for developing young leaders in the energy sector.

“We invite all stakeholders to join us in supporting Namibian youth, ensuring they have the tools and access needed to actively shape our nation’s energy landscape,” Shinedima adds. – email: matthew@namibian.com.na
