Namibian pupils will embark on their National Senior Certificate Ordinary level examinations from 16 September to 4 October, says education executive director Sanet Steenkamp.
Steenkamp says oral and practical papers will also be conducted for Ordinary level, with written exams to commence from 14 October to 20 November.
Early papers for Advanced Subsidiary level have been scheduled for the same period, with extended dates from 16 September to 11 October.
“Our Advanced Subsidiary written papers for national exams are set from 21 October to 15 November. Many schools have already concluded their syllabi, and in terms of our examination readiness as a ministry, we are absolutely ready to once again provide credible, quality examinations to our pupils,” says Steenkamp.
The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture recently concluded training with the heads of department of all private and public schools and regional examination offices on how to handle question papers, as well as how to conduct centre inspections during examinations, she says.
Steenkamp also issues a stern warning against the mishandling and leakage of exam papers.
“We have a strong appeal to everybody that handles question papers to ensure that it is done properly and that they are meeting the required standards. They must adhere to the guidelines provided on how these papers should be handled.
“We will not tolerate any opening of papers, maladministration or leakage of any question papers,” adds Steenkamp.
