Egumbo appointed Old Mutual group CEO

OLD Mutual Namibia has appointed Kosmas Egumbo as group CEO.

This was announced on Friday by Johannes !Gawaxab, Old Mutual Africa MD.

Egumbo’s appointment is effective from 1 November. He will succeed Gim Victor, who upon the expiry of his Old Mutual South Africa contract to Namibia has been appointed Head of Distribution for Old Mutual Africa.

Egumbo joined Old Mutual four years ago and is the Chief Executive of the Corporate business. Before joining Old Mutual, Egumbo was the CEO of Namibia’s national airline and prior to that he held senior executive roles at the City of Windhoek and GTZ (German development cooperation agency). His career spans roles he held across sectors such as finance, aviation, energy and development.

!Gawaxab said Egumbo’s key responsibility will be to help Old Mutual Namibia deliver on its stated strategic objective of maintaining its leading market position, accelerating the delivery of its corporate strategy including digital distribution strategy and the continued strengthening of local talent development.

He holds a BSc Electrical Engineering degree, has completed leadership and management programmess, and this year completed a GMP at Harvard Business School.

Several other internal appointments are expected over the next few months into the new year.

These include the appointment of Lionel Kannemeyer, current Sales Head for Corporate, who assumes the CEO: Corporate role as of 1 November when Egumbo takes on the Group CEO position.

Nico //Hoabeb will assume the position of Retail Mass Executive as from 1 January 2015, after his four-year stint as CEO of Old Mutual Swaziland.

Martha Murorua has been appointed Executive: Strategic Initiatives with effect from 1 January 2015.
