Eight homesteads at the settlement of Katwitwi in the Kavango West region were destroyed during a storm on Wednesday.
Regional police chief inspector Raimbert Muronga has confirmed the incident, saying it occurred around 14h00.
Heavy rains accompanied by strong wind destroyed at least eight homesteads, leaving families without shelter.
Muronga says some houses were flooded, documents were destroyed, and all food items in the houses spoiled.
Efforts are being made by the police to inform the authorities for assistance to be arranged for the affected families, says Muronga.
