EVANGELICAL Lutheran Church in Namibia [Elcin] bishop-elect Martin Ngodji died from Covid-19 on Friday morning. He was 61.

His death was confirmed by his brother-in-law, Arvo Mufeti.

According to Mufeti, Ngodji fell sick last week Sunday morning and was taken to the Onandjokwe State Hospital.

He was discharged the same day at around 12h00.

He was taken back to the same hospital on Monday evening and was hospitalised.

On Friday morning, he was transferred to an Ondangwa private hospital where he’s condition deteriorated and he died.

“According to the doctors, our father died due to Covid-19. The results of the test came back on Tuesday while he was still hospitalised in the Onandjokwe State Hospital,” Mufeti said.

“He was a quiet and intelligent man. He always had passion for learning,” Mufeti said.

He said that Ngodji was the pillar of their family and a hero to them.

Ngodji was elected bishop of the Elcin Eastern Diocese in August and was expected to be sworn in on 14 November.
