Erongo RED appoints new CEO

ERONGO RED recently appointed Fessor Mbango as CEO.

Mbango took over from Robert Kahimise, who became the City of Windhoek CEO earlier this year.

Mbango served as acting CEO until his official appointment at the end of April.

According to an Erongo RED statement, 47 applications were received for the position, out of which four candidates were shortlisted. Mbango was the successful candidate.

He has been with Erongo RED since 2012, and has held several positions in the company, including technical manager and executive manager. He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering.

“In his role as the CEO of Erongo RED, Mbango will be responsible for ensuring shareholder value by giving direction and the coordination of key strategic decisions in corporate governance, risk and performance management,” the statement reads.

He will also be responsible for ensuring that the electricity distributor’s operations support economic development, and creates investor confidence.

Other tasks include the implementation of strategic objectives of the company, as well as fostering stakeholder relations and compliance with relevant laws.
