Estates agents, competition watchdog get new boards

The Namibia Estates Agents Board (NEAB) and the Namibian Competition Commission (NACC) each have a new board of directors.

This was commissioned by the minister of industrialisation and trade, Lucia Iipumbu, earlier this week.

She urged members to invest heavily in building strong relationships with stakeholders.

Iipumbu tasked the boards to lead the institutions to which they have been assigned in line with enabling legislation, and to observe key sections of the Public Enterprises Governance Act, especially those that deal with issues of compliance.

“Some of the compliance matters I expect to be fully adhered to are the signing of performance agreements by the board of directors with the line minister, developing and submitting an integrated strategic business plan, the timely submission of annual reports to the line ministry, and the compilation and submission of financial reports,” she said.

According to a statement released by the ministry yesterday, the new directors of the NEAB are Marvel Tjombonde, who is the chairperson, and Abel Sindano, the deputy chairperson, as well as Simeon Kahona, Dickson Swanepoel and Liberty Mupopiwa.

The board will serve a three-year term from 1 March this year to 31 March 2026, the statement said.

The new NACC board comprises Andreas Ithindi as chairperson, and Isabella Tjatjara as deputy chairperson.

Other members are Siegfried Josua Neumann, Irene Simeon-Kurtz and Benjamin Biwa.

The board will serve for three years from 1 August this year to 31 July 2026.

The minister also announced the appointment of Eino Mvula as the chief executive officer of the Namibian Standards Institution.
