As March winds down and the temperature start to cool, the city is buzzing with events that promise something for everyone, whether you’re into visual arts, live music, family gatherings, or simply good food and drinks. Let’s get into it.
Today
Tonight is the launch of the National Art Gallery of Namibia’s second exhibition for the year, featuring veteran Namibian visual artist, Andrew van Wyk’s solo ‘Art Through The Eye Of An Artist’ from 18h00. The showcase will include new techniques and work from private collections. Entry is free.
The Family Thyme Conference in Windhoek will conclude tonight at NG Kerk Suiderhof Hall, featuring inspirational and practical sessions for women, couples and parents in Afrikaans. The event, hosted by Gretha Wiid, will be a parenting session called ‘New Times, New Challenges’ aimed at helping parents understand and support their children. Tickets are N$180, with nursery care available.
This Weekend
The Good Food Market’s ‘Funky Fresh Edition’ is happening on Friday from 17h00 to 00h00 at The Village at Eros. The event will feature food and drinks stalls, and performances by Vaughn Ahrens and YD Fresh.
It’s Acoustic Friday at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre this weekend, featuring live music from Shishani, supported by Tapz and Afron Nyambali from 19h00. Entry is N$80 in advance.
The Windhoek Karnival (WiKa) is back at SKW and will include the Prunksitzung this Friday, with doors opening at 18h30. Tickets are N$350. On Saturday, the NBL WiKa Beerfest will take place from noon, with tickets costing N$20 for children and N$50 for adults. Next Friday, on 4 April, is The 2nd International Evening from 19h30 for N$350. Tickets are available at the door.
The Rise and Blossom Vision Board Event will take place this Saturday at the Galaxy Hotel, Ongwediva, from 08h30 to 16h00. The event, with a semi-formal dress code, will cover key topics such as excelling in the corporate world, unlocking entrepreneurial potential, the impact of lifestyle on health, financial freedom through investments and estate planning, and navigating personal dreams. Attendees can win prizes, and ticket options include N$320 for an event pass, N$380 for the ‘Thrive’ book, and N$670 for both, with breakfast, tea breaks, and lunch included.
On Saturday, Trudi Dicks’ exhibition ‘Contemplation’ is opening at The Project Room in Windhoek from 11h00. Entry is free and it will run till 26 April.
Musician Alex.andria presents ‘Intro to Himbo Giraffe’, a live music performance this Saturday from 20h00, at Vinyls Cafe in Windhoek. Entry is N$70.
Next Week
On Monday, 31 March, there is a film screening and workshop for ‘Namibia: The Forgotten Colony’, directed by Sabine Katins from Germany. The 55-minute film from 1976 will be followed by discussions and a feedback session at the Performing Arts Workshop at the University of Namibia. Entry is free.

Forever Dance Academy hosts kizomba and semba dance lessons every Monday and Wednesday at 12 Hugel Street in Windhoek. Beginners will practice between 18h30 and 19h30, while intermediate and advanced dancers have the 19h30 to 20h30 slot for both days. One drop-in lesson will cost N$100, while packages of eight lessons range between N$600 and N$700, for individuals and couples, respectively.
The Speakeasy at Liliencron Street is hosting Ladies’ Night every Wednesday with 50% off all cocktails and meal options available.
Every Friday is Whiskey and Wines at Windhoek Sky Restaurant on the fourth floor of the Independence Memorial Museum from 17h30 to 19h30. Come through for a 20% discount on any whiskey and wine.
