Events this weekend and beyond

MAIN GUY … Cassidy Karon will headline Night Under the Stars at The Goethe Institut in Windhoek this Friday.

It was hard to decide what to include and what to leave out this week because the more time ticks ahead, the closer we get to the festive season and the more events are being staged.

There are a few free events, some educational gatherings, live music shows, sports tournaments, bottomless mimosas and so much more coming up this weekend and next week, so dive right in.

Today

College of the Arts Photography students will launch an exhibition tonight at their Katutura campus from 17h30. Entry is free.

Rapper Cassidy Karon’s latest project ‘My Ma Se Kind’ is dropping. Join him in celebrating the occasion at the Goethe-Institut’s Night Under The Stars live music show for N$50. Gates open at 18h00.

Kasi Vibe Festival is back for another three days of fun and thrills at the Sam Nujoma Stadium. Entry is N$80 at the gate for access to food and drink stalls, small and medium enterprise exhibitions and musical performances.

Tonight is Vinyl’s ‘Poetry Night’ featuring various female orators such as Patric.Star, Naledi Nakuta, Bella Phoenix, Felicity The Poet, Ma Mogotsi, Bupe, Papi Weebz. Thor and Jemimah Ndebele. With music by Gun Jade, the event will be held under the theme ‘Celestial She: A Celebration of Divine Femininity’.

Catch the University of Namibia showcase featuring fourth-year performing arts students and lecturers at the National Theatre of Namibia’s Backstage. Tickets are N$50.

From Friday to Sunday, the Okahandja Municipality is hosting the Mayoral Cup featuring soccer, netball, volleyball and darts tournaments at the Nau-Aib Stadium.

Saturday

Vinyls is celebrating their fourth birthday with live music and drinks specials. Entry is free.

Get up early this Saturday for the Finkenstein Trail Run at the Finkenstein Bush Market at 07h00. Registration costs N$50 for the 4km or 8km trail.

One Worship Movement and The UDN Productions will have the ‘Qualified’ live DVD recording of singer Ulochi at Hilton Hotel.

The Cancer Association of Namibia and Sanlam Namibia’s ‘Hats and Roses’ musical event with PJ Powers and the Namibian Queens of Song takes place at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek. Tickets cost N$550.

It’s Fresh FM’s ‘Freshest Birthday Bash’ at The Loft, featuring performances by Tumi Mohamed, Skrypt, Page Ethnix, Azmo Nawe, South Africa’s Myztro, Mdu The Fire Drummer, Max Junior, Waters, Ixa and more. Come through for good food, live music, tattoos, games and photo ops from 14h00.

Sky Dreams presents the Spring Dance at Hoekies Entertainment at Groot Aub, featuring Gyzie One Man Band, Gyzio and DJ Stakes.

The Afreximbank Trade Finance Seminar takes place at the Windhoek Country Club until Tuesday, under the theme: ‘Power to Trade’.

Next Week

Join the NBC Fun Run next Saturday at Swakopmund for a day of fitness. You can choose between 5km, 7km, 10km or 21km. Registration costs N$150 to receive a medal and a goodie bag.

A Substance Abuse Support Group is held every Thursday from 18h00, hosted for free by Saffron Psychological Services at the CCN Building in Eros.
