Mariah Carey is still defrosting in preparation for another lovely Christmas season, but in the meantime, here are a couple of things you can keep yourself busy and entertained with.

We try to keep it diverse so that young and old, drinkers and non-drinkers alike have something fun to do.

Whether it’s fashion, live music or even an auction you have no excuse to stay indoors this summer.

This Weekend

On Friday, Adventure Camping Hire is hosting its annual auction for camping goods, such as Engel fridges, dome and rooftop tents, mattresses, stretchers, chairs and tables, sleeping bags and much more from 10h00. This will take place at its office in Suiderhof.

Katutura Fashion Week is back this Friday at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre. This runway event promises fresh faces as well as locally and internationally recognised models. Follow them online for more.

Also on Friday, Vox Vitae Musica presents its ‘Meet and Greet’ concert, which will be a night of Namibian compositions at the College of the Arts’ town campus. Come out from 19h00. Tickets are N$70 for adults and N$30 for children.

Mercure Hotel in Windhoek is hosting an unforgettable evening of live music with singer Priscilla from 19h00. Visit its Skeleton Coast Bar for Afropop jams and drinks specials.

Santa is coming early this year with the Christmas Market at Elisenheim on Friday from 15h00. There will be food, jewellery, crafts, coffee and beer for sale, as well as live music and fun activities. Entry is free.

Congolese musician Awilo Longomba is coming to Namibia for a spectacular live music concert at Independence Stadium this Saturday.

Come hear ‘Karolina’ and other hit songs! Ticket prices will range from N$400 to N$3 500.

This Saturday is the ‘Arts for Activism Against GBV’ showcase under the theme ‘Breaking Boundaries: Art as a Catalyst for Change and Empowerment’.

Join from 17h00 at the National Theatre of Namibia. The dress code is ‘glamorous’ and registration is online.

Windhoek Comedy Festival and Comedy Hour present ‘Political Punchlines’, a Namibian election comedy show hosted by Slick the Dick, featuring Efa, Zita, Iileka, Axarob, Mark Kariahuua and Courage the Comedian on 24 November.

‘Polls’ open at 19h00 at the Village Garden Opera House. Tickets are going for N$199.99 on Webtickets.

Next Week

The Good Food Market’s ‘Hotter Than Hot’ edition takes place at The Village in Windhoek on 29 November from 17h00. Join the fun for spicy meals, live DJs on deck and other treats. Tickets start at N$80.

Woke Poetry presents ‘Pool Party with Poets’ on Saturday 30 November featuring food, performances and games. The venue will be revealed to those who purchase a N$100 ticket.

Recurring

Girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 14 can join art and dance classes at the Okahandja Tennis Court on Wednesdays for N$200 a month. Children can learn about graphics, photography, design, dance, videography and drama.

Sing as loud and as off-key as you want at ‘Karaoke Wednesdays’ at Mynt Nightclub, Thursdays at Tipsy Rabbit Hole, or Saturdays at Isabel’s Table.

Every week is the Sunday Market at the Village Garden from 09h00 to 15h00. There are stalls, children’s activities, live music, food and drinks.

Beyond

Catch the Just BreathefFree yoga and meditation session by Klara Mudge on Monday, 2 December. Visit Etcetera in Windhoek from 17h30 with a yoga mat or something to sit on. This session will help you “come home to your body”.

On Saturday, 7 December, project Never Walk Alone presents ‘The Restoration Concert 2.0’ at the Hage Geingob Stadium.

There will be performances by The Unveiled, Clive & TheNowGeneration Choir, Maranatha, Dee’A and more worship artists.
