One hundred young people keen to learn about opportunities in creative industries are expected to come together for the Future Makers Expo scheduled for next month.
The purpose of the event is to provide young people with the inspiration, information, and abilities they need to succeed in a rapidly changing creative environment, according to the organisers.
Under the theme ‘Create, Connect and Conquer’, the expo, which will take place at Katutura Youth Centre in Windhoek from 6 November to 5 December, will include interactive panels, presentations by industry leaders, and a number of workshops.
Organisers say participants will participate in hands-on activities ranging from digital design and content creation to marketing and entrepreneurship, gaining valuable insights into the various facets of the creative industry.
“Young talent must be nurtured because creativity lies at the core of innovation,” says expo founder Kuhatjiua Marenga.
“The Future Makers Expo aims to empower attendees by introducing them to industry experts and providing hands-on training that will equip them for careers in this exciting field.”
Marenga says the expo will feature skill-building workshops in addition to a networking lounge where attendees can meet peers, industry leaders, and possible mentors.
The goal of the cooperative setting, according to Marenga, is to cultivate relationships that may result in future opportunities.
A few of the enrolled attendees have expressed their excitement about the occasion.
“This workshop aims to provide young Namibians with hands-on training in digital marketing, motion graphics, graphic design, and 3D design,” says Marenga.
In addition, he says, participants will engage in group projects, speak with business leaders, and compile a portfolio of original work that can be used to launch a career.
Marenga says a main event showcasing the participants’ projects to prospective sponsors, employers, and investors will take place on 5 December, following the workshop.
“There will be thought-provoking speeches, product demonstrations, and design competitions, providing attendees with the chance to establish valuable connections in the industry.”
