FUNERAL arrangements for Shannon Wasserfall will commence once her family has decided on a burial site.
This came to light after the National Forensic Science Institute matched partial fingerprints on the human remains found in the desert last week Tuesday to the 22-year-old who went missing in April at Walvis Bay.
Dennis Wasserfall, Shannon’s uncle, has expressed his disappointment at how the confirmation has reached the family.
“We only found out about this on social media,” he said yesterday.
He said the family is somewhat at peace knowing the remains are those of Shannon as they suspected.
“Last week when we were at the mortuary with a picture in which she is brightly smiling, we could see from the teeth that it is her. We then partly concluded that it is her remains,” Wasserfall said.
Shannon was born at Walvis Bay and raised by her father, Tega Matheus, in Windhoek. She also spent part of her childhood with her maternal grandmother, Getrud Wasserfall, at Omaruru.
