First locally-made China-brand car unveiled in Paraguay

ASUNCION – Paraguay on Monday unveiled the first car entirely assembled in the country, a J2 model by Chinese automaker JAC Motors.

“Paraguay is making a great step in the automotive market,” Paraguayan president Horacio Cartes said at the model’s launch event.

Cartes test-drove the car at a factory of Grupo Reimpex, where the car was assembled.

Jorge Samaniego, president of Grupo Reimpex, said launching a car fully assembled by Paraguay is a gigantic moment for the country and represents ‘the crest of a wave’ for his company.

“We will take care of every detail, and we will follow up on the expectations of every customer to ensure the utmost satisfaction for all Paraguayan families,” Samaniego said.

Zhang Peng, vice president of JAC said at the event that although JAC has entered 80 countries, Paraguay is becoming a very important market for the company.

Paraguay also expects to fully assemble vans and trucks this year, he added. – Nampa-Xinhua
