SIX rape cases were reported to the police over the weekend, five of them involving child victims.
In the first incident, a 34-year-old man was arrested at Stampriet in the Hardap region for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in her family home in the early hours of Saturday.
It is alleged that the victim was left with her two brothers at home by her mother. While the three were asleep, the suspect entered the house and allegedly raped the victim.
The two brothers woke up when they heard their sister crying and switched on the lights to find their sister naked and the suspect rushing out of the door.The suspect was arrested and was expected to make his first appearance yesterday in the Aranos Magistrate’s Court. In the second incident, a 10-year-old was raped on numerous occasions by her 23-year-old uncle at their homestead at Omahenge village. The suspect is not yet arrested. In another incident, a 19-year-old suspect allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl on numerous occasions at Oshiyandja Village, Eenhana.
The suspect, who was arrested, was the victim’s family domestic help.
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle, age unknown, at Onanguti village in Epembe constituency on Friday night. It is alleged that the suspect called the victim into the storage room where he ordered her to undress and raped her. The suspect has not yet been arrested.
In Mondesa, Swakopmund, it is alleged that a 44-year-old woman, who is a domestic worker, was raped by the father of his employer between April and December 2019.
The crime report states that the suspect dragged the victim into his room and had sexual intercourse with her several times. The suspect is yet to be arrested.
The police are looking for a suspect who allegedly raped a nine-year-old pupil at Okahanya Combined School, while she was on her way from school last week. The suspect allegedly dragged the girl into the bushes before raping her her.
The victim went home and only reported the incident to her grandmother on Sunday. The suspect has not yet been arrested.
