FNB introduces women-focused banking solution

First National Bank (FNB) Namibia has introduced a new banking product that focuses on financial solutions for women in business, HER Banking.

According to a statement from the financial institution, the launch of the product marks a significant milestone in the bank’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity.

The statement says the HER Banking solution – an acronym for Helping Everywoman Rise – was launched in Women’s Month, a time to celebrate the accomplishments of women and recognise their vital role in society.

“Women are breaking barriers and building successful companies like never before. Globally, we’re seeing the rise of female-founded businesses, and as a result, there’s an increasing recognition that gender-balanced teams are more effective, more innovative, and more productive,” said FNB Namibia commercial chief executive Sepo Haihambo at the launch in Windhoek last week.

According to the statement, FNB Namibia acknowledges women’s critical role in business as well as the challenges they continue to face, and one of the most significant challenges women in business face is access to finance.

“Access to finance is listed as one of the foremost challenges facing women in business in Namibia. Even the most promising business ideas can struggle to get off the ground without adequate financial resources.

“Addressing this issue is vital to fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for women in business,” Haihambo noted.

HER Banking is designed to tackle some of these challenges through tailored financial service solutions that cater to the unique needs of women in business.

“We understand the unique challenges women face in business and are committed to providing the resources, networks and the support they need to succeed. We recognise that the fight for equality in business is ongoing, and we are determined to be part of the solution,” said Haihambo.

The HER Banking solution offers a dedicated women’s hub in the small and medium-sized enterprises digital call centre, offering specialised advice and support.

“In addition, it offers merchant services, a speedee device, with the first month’s rental free, as well as specialised business insurance that is tailored to the unique risks faced by women entrepreneurs, providing financial protection and peace of mind,” the FNB statement adds.

The bank also says HER Banking offers a smart spender credit card, with no monthly charge for the first month.

“The package also offers networking opportunities and access to events hosted by FNB and strategic partners, connecting women entrepreneurs with valuable industry peers and resources,” the bank says.
