Focus Fireboy keeps pushing through the pain

Sakaria Shiwayu

Full-time musician Sakaria Shiwayu’s latest album, ‘True to life’, is about life’s daily challenges.

Shiwayu says the album is proof that he has made it despite encountering various challenges.

He says he has worked hard to bring the project to life.

“I remember how hard it has been for me to get where I am today. To go to a national TV or a radio and find people who can genuinely help you to promote your art is not easy.

“I swear this is the hardest thing for the up and coming. We are often ignored, and it is really hard for us to find our way to the top,” he says.

The album features relevant musicians, such as Young T, D Kandjafa, Dama Monique, WarForce, Saddy, Stones 22, Kangweson and Immz Shortman.

All songs have been recorded and mastered by Chakkie Beatz.

Hard copies of the album has been available since April, and the digital version will be available online from 8 June.

The 26-year-old, who’s also known as ‘Focus Fireboy’, says he is in love with music.

Growing up at Onheleiwa, he says he was always seen carrying his radio, listening to music programmes.

Shiwayu says he started singing in 2018, and made his debut with the album ‘I Am a Go-Getter’ in 2022.

He said through the album he wants to urge everyone to keep pushing through the pain.

“Let’s all do what we have to do to survive, no matter what. I know it’s hard out here, but let’s hold on and see what the future holds.

“While waiting for better days, we should keep moving towards our goals. Set goals should always be achieved,” he says.

Shiwayu says the second track on the album, ‘God’s Grace’, is great for days when you wake up low and need to get going.

The message of ‘Lipula Onghalo’ is ‘no pain, no gain’, he says.

Shiwayu says ‘Om’nona’, featuring Kangweson, is about ending toxic relationships without violence and darma.

“The album is a must-listen-to, because there are many messages that should not go to waste. I feel people need to adjust and start listening to the words and get the message.

“We as artists are the voice. We have this wonderful platform that has not been given to everyone,” he says.
