Football Youth Games reach semis

WINDHOEK – Khomas, Omusati, Erongo and Oshikoto reached the semifinals of the under-17 boys football tournament at the first ever National Youth Games underway here.

On Friday, Khomas continued with their impressive performance, beating Kunene and Kavango East with the same 3-0 score line to book a spot in the next round of the competition.

Omusati beat //Kharas 1-0 and collected points against Oshana, who did not have a football team at the competition.

Despite collecting points, Omusati were level on points as well as goals with Kavango West and went for a play-off, which they won to reach the next round.

Erongo, who started the competition with a draw against Omaheke on Thursday, did not set a foot wrong on Friday, hammering Zambezi 8-0 to finish top of their group.

Oshikoto reached the semis after drawing 0-0 with Otjozondjupa, and went on to beat Hardap 1-0 in their last group match.

Athletes are participating in football, athletics, basketball, boxing, judo, netball, swimming, tennis and volleyball. – Nampa
