WINDHOEK – Boxers from Malawi and Tanzania are ready to set the ring on fire when they clash with their Namibian counterparts at the ‘Redemption of Ndokosho’ boxing bonanza over the weekend.
Ndokosho lost his International Boxing Federation (IBF) International Featherweight title to Oscar Chauke of South Africa in March this year.
The boxing bonanza is organised by Salute Boxing Academy, which was formed in July this year, and hosted its first boxing event in the Oshana Region in August.
This will be the boxing stable’s second boxing bonanza.
This fight will be hosted at Omankete lodge at Outapi in the Omusati Region on Friday. The main attraction of the night will be the IBF Africa Persian Gulf title fight featuring Gottlieb Ndokosho and Francis Miyeyusho of Tanzania.
Eight undercard fights are scheduled for the night.
Speaking here on Wednesday at the last media briefing before the boxers travelled to Outapi, Ndokosho’s opponent on the night Miyeyusho said he is not a man of many words outside the ring, adding that his boxing gloves will do the talking for him on Saturday.
At the same occasion his trainer Yassin Abdallah said he is aware of the strength the Namibian boxers possess, but his boxer has trained well for this fight.
“We are prepared for Ndokosho. He will respect my boxer when they step into the ring. Francis has fought for many titles in Africa and Asia, so when we step into the ring on Saturday everything is possible.
“I call on Namibian fans to come in numbers and see what we are made of,” said Abdallah.
Limbani Masamba, who will be fighting Alfeus ‘The Viper’ Shilongo in a junior middleweight eight round bout, said he is ready and this time around he will be on the winning side.
“This is my second time in Namibia. The last time I was here I lost my fight, but it will not happen again. I am going to end up on the winning side this time around because I am in good shape for this fight,” Masamba stated.
