Lessons came to a standstill at Niitembu Primary School in the Oshana region on Tuesday after a former pupil allegedly started smashing teachers’ cars and spilling food meant for pupils.
School principal Daniel Gabriel said the former pupil arrived at the school in the morning at around 11h20 and threw out a pot of food meant for the school’s feeding programme, which serves 365 pupils.
“Then he destroyed a tap at the school and smashed our cars with a metal object. He smashed the car windscreens and tires. We are now stranded at school,” he said.
The principal said the former pupil also chased him with the metal object.
“It was a very traumatising experience, especially for the pupils. We just decided to release the pupils,” Gabriel said.
He said the suspect left the school about three or four years ago.
Gabriel said the police removed the former pupil from the school’s premises.
