Gambling house robbed

SIX ‘customers’ at a gambling house in Walvis Bay in the early hours of Monday turned out to be robbers.

The six men had been gambling at La Lainya’s gambling house in the harbour town since Sunday evening. At about 01h30 on Monday, they pulled out firearms and held the manager and some customers hostage, demanding all the money in the safe.The manager gave in to the demand, and the robbers got away with about N$24 000 in cash.They also took jewellery from some of the customers.One customer was hit on the head with a pistol, and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.According to Detective Sergeant Julia Nujoma of the Erongo Police, the suspects are still at large.At about 01h30 on Monday, they pulled out firearms and held the manager and some customers hostage, demanding all the money in the safe.The manager gave in to the demand, and the robbers got away with about N$24 000 in cash.They also took jewellery from some of the customers.One customer was hit on the head with a pistol, and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.According to Detective Sergeant Julia Nujoma of the Erongo Police, the suspects are still at large.
